Dearest diary,

I just knew you can’t talk about mental illness with anyone…at all. It is a sensitive, touching, and heartfelt topic—that is to be taken seriously. And when you open up about it, people don’t like it; you ask why? Because they’re scared.

Personally, I think we should face all problems, they’re not going to disappear on its own, it will just haunt your soul until your last breathe of guilt. I heard and have seen “problems“, in social media, a lot about mental health: depression and anxiety mostly; but the real problem is that real people start to romanticize them, and I’m utterly disgusted by this idea.

In fact, thousands of teens find beautiful feelings in such ugly conditions. And for this matter I believe no one should proclaim: “Isn’t this the way it should be? Encouraging them to be happy?”, we should always look in the bright side; but now, it’s more important when we look at the bigger picture—these reach to millions of teens and it’s becoming a trend, planted into the minds of young adults that there is bliss in these illnesses. We’re misusing the positivity and when we dig into it, it has a bigger negative effect than you think.

Furthermore, every time you scroll down, any social media platform—you see it. That one person who always posts anything related to their mental health, frequently, like posting about your problems would have any help in the first place. First of all, no one cares, and if you really think you’re mentally ill, go for specialist because social media isn’t your doctor. And if you’re just in favour for attention and trend which I think is very immature and very wrong, remember that it’s purely one of the reasons why society don’t pay much attention to this, because some of us is taking it as a joke.

Mental illness should not be taken lightly. Mental illness should have more attention. Mental illness should not be romanticized.

On my last note, we’re not all perfect, we have flaws and most importantly freewill—and with this, we need to use wisely. Educate them. I’m glad helping to my extent by spreading awareness on my group project, I hope you do too.

Yours truly,

Moria
