To the world we call home; where is home?

Updated: May 24, 2020

Constantly being watched, no sense of freedom, no right to think, personal thoughts is a crime, you cannot commit a crime, you can’t get away from a crime… they are always watching. Right now as you read this you are being watched.

Whatever you do is for the sake of the Party.

You aren’t worth much, simply just a follower in the eyes of the higher ups.

Necessities for survival like food and water are simply limited in quality depending on your class. We came from being able to have access to several choices to absolutely none. Just deal with what you have and get used to the flavourless and bland taste of food that once had impeccable flavor. The only way to access such a treat is to be of a higher class.

If money was what used to give us the pass to anything and everything we wanted, it didn’t matter now. Your rank determines where you stand in the eyes of the Party. It determines how you live. Whether you live in comfort with the slight freedom of being able to not have your telescreen on or having to live constantly under the watch of the government with just the bare minimum to keep you alive to do your job.

But no matter what your rank is. You are always being watched.

Big Brother is always watching.

The world we live in was never a free world and it doesn’t get any freerer. With even your thoughts controlled how can you possibly not lose your mind? No matter where you stand you are tortured for going against the words of the law; tormented for failing to live in the world they have designed. You are threatened for not complying with how you are supposed to live.

Like robots we all obey the law. We submissively follow. Why? Room 101 exists. The place that uncovers your greatest fear, your breaking point. You can easily be terminated by the government. The Thought Police exists, they live their lives charging people who commit Thought Crime. You think against Oceania’s ideology and you are gone.

Swiped out, never to be heard of again. We can’t even have our own opinions. We aren’t allowed to think how we want to think. We are monitored, speakers to catch anyone who dares to go against what the Party says is right.

Like animals we are trapped in our cages. The freedom we fought for? Gone. Equality? Gone. To have a right to live? Gone. No one is safe. You are not safe. I am not safe. We are not safe. Safety? Gone.

Betrayal creeps at the corners of the walls. You don’t know anyone’s true identity. The person sitting next to you is probably part of the Thought Police and is waiting for you to crack and spill every hidden thought you buried within yourself.

With the increased advancement of technology, they don’t have to break a sweat trying to figure out effective ways to monitor us. With 3.4 billion individuals using the internet, we’re all exposed to the higher ups. Anything can be disguised as a piece of technology that records your every movement. Is the wall even a wall at this point?

The government has the upper hand. A tremendous upper hand. They can easily use their power to govern. What are we to do when we are so vulnerable under the eyes of the government? They have our identification, they have control over us, our citizenship, our mere existence. A mere nod can get you out of the records and your whole life out. With the use of drones to monitor people’s movements, what’s to expect in the future? Surveillance can reach the next level and be so advanced that there wouldn’t even be a chance for people to find a way to hack into it.

Right now, whatever we are going through can be easily altered. What we know might not exist in the future. And if we even manage to live long enough to see our own revolution that possibly shatters everything that we have built so far, what are we to remember? Other than the feeling of boredom and uncertainty as we stay locked up in our homes that really resemble cells more than an actual home. We are imprisoned. Trapped. Locked up.

We have worked so hard to reduce the gap between the poor and the wealthy and in the near future that gap would only get wider and wider. It can grow up to the point where it’s almost impossible to think that we were an equal world.

We will live in divided societies.Your home reflects your standard; like how it was in the medieval times instead of cottages and palaces however we are going to be in much well built buildings, the tallest most grandest skyscrapers for those of the higher ranks whereas the low income and get shabby apartments that provide them with enough comfort and a roof over their head.

What you receive will be determined by your rank. How you live will be based on where you stand in the world, whether you are just a mere follower or if you’re of a higher well of state. I mentioned money won’t matter as much as it does because in the future we only aim for survival. We only aim to live without being killed for disobeying the laws and regulations that are now set upon us for our protection.

We will be retracing our steps and fall back in the times with just more advanced technology and vaster knowledge. We will crumble all that we have worked to build and empower people of our kind but soon we will all fall into ranks, into social classes that will determine how we live. We fall like legos. And we are put back together by the government, by the higher ups. Only they will have control over how we live and where we stand.

Locked in our houses, no matter how many times you delete your search history they have seen your questions. Nothing you do is a secret most especially online. Our only mode of communication.

Cheers to our future! Remember;

Whatever you are. Whoever you are. Wherever you are. You are being watched. From now and forevermore.
