Moria's Individual Report

1984 reflects so much of today and what might happen in the future, the story itself in Winston’s viewpoint is similar to ours as an individual who wants to live with freedom. Everything he wants exists only in his mind. George Orwell created a character like him to explore him and Julia in his events in seeking truth about the party and the almighty Big Brother.

The exciting story follows with themes of totalitarianism, change of power, love, manipulation, ignorance and many more, warning us that it might be our future, if we let it. With a sorrowful ending, this masterpiece showed a difficult world from where being happy is commanded and means Big Brother rather than from ourselves and surroundings; this just makes us fear about the vast possibilities of the future because our beliefs of improving, growth, or achievement is twisted and if applied today is not exactly what it is or what we want, to never knowing how much important history is until now, or how much curiosity might eat me up from the truth.

I appreciate Orwell’s works of being thought provoking, despite the fear it led me because it did not just teach me, it also made me open minded and more aware of how things could drastically change like that.

Working with the team:

On the first day I heard this task each of us had to pick an aspect and I was left with business & economy. Honestly, it wasn’t that hard communicating since we only needed to complete the book and do the article-- to me very little damage was done, however, it was only difficult because I spent a huge amount of time writing the news report, wanting the best quality I can give for me and my teammates.
